This Privacy Policy explains how X Tech Solutions GT Limited (“X Tech Solutions”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the BIA Male or BIA Female apps on iPhone or Apple Watch (together, the “BIA Apps”), including the optional Food Photo Analysis feature.
X Tech Solutions GT Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through the BIA Apps and our BIA Nutrition service.
Company number: 11940011
Registered office: 4th Floor, 18 St. Cross Street, London, England, EC1N 8UN, United Kingdom
Privacy and support contact: support@xtech.solutions
Depending on the features you use, the BIA Apps may store or process the following information on your iPhone and Apple Watch:
This information is not uploaded to an X Tech Solutions account because the BIA Apps do not require a BIA account.
Some protected local files, including saved food photographs, food entries, cardio caches and BIA Female cycle records, are excluded from iCloud and device backups. Other ordinary app preferences may be included in a device backup according to your Apple backup settings.
With your permission, the BIA Apps may read relevant Apple Health information, including:
Workout features may write workout and calorie information to Apple Health.
Apple Health information is used to show activity, workout and progress information in the BIA Apps. The Food feature uses active energy only to compare logged food calories with active calories burned.
Apple Health information is not included in Food Photo Analysis requests and is not sent to the BIA Nutrition service, Microsoft Azure or OpenAI.
The iPhone and Apple Watch apps use Apple’s WatchConnectivity framework to exchange workout state and related app data directly between your paired devices.
If you use Food Photo Analysis, you may take a meal photograph with your device’s camera or select a specific image using Apple’s photo picker.
The BIA Apps do not upload or access your entire photo library. Only the photograph you choose for analysis is prepared and sent.
A food photograph may contain information beyond the meal, such as a person, document or surroundings. Please keep these out of the frame where possible.
When you ask the app to analyse a meal photograph:
The estimate may be inaccurate and is not medical or dietary advice. You remain in control of whether to save, edit or discard it.
The BIA Nutrition service does not intentionally place meal photographs in permanent X Tech Solutions storage. The photograph is handled for the time needed to process the request.
OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, or longer where required by law.
OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default unless the API customer opts in. X Tech Solutions does not opt in to model training using BIA meal photographs.
You can read more about OpenAI’s API data handling at:
https://platform.openai.com/docs/models/default-usage-policies-by-endpoint
Food Photo Analysis uses Apple App Attest to confirm that a request comes from a genuine BIA Male or BIA Female installation.
For this purpose, we process:
These identifiers are used for service security, replay prevention, fraud prevention and enforcement of the daily scan allowance.
They are not used for advertising or cross-company tracking.
Like most online services, Microsoft Azure may also process technical connection and diagnostic information such as:
We do not deliberately include meal photographs, Apple Health information or cycle information in our application logs.
Subscriptions are offered and managed through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit.
Apple processes your Apple ID, payment details and billing information under Apple’s own privacy terms.
The BIA Apps receive the product and transaction information needed to:
X Tech Solutions does not receive your complete payment-card details.
If you allow notifications, the BIA Apps use Apple’s notification services to schedule reminders.
These may include:
Notification preferences are stored on your device.
The content of a notification may be visible on your device’s lock screen depending on your Apple notification and privacy settings.
Apple may provide crash reports and diagnostic information to developers if you have chosen to share this information in your device settings.
These reports are controlled by Apple and may contain technical information about your device, app version and an error or crash.
If you contact us, we process the contact details, message and attachments you provide so that we can respond to your request and support you.
Please do not include unnecessary health information or photographs in a support message.
Where UK or European data-protection law applies, we rely on the following purposes and legal bases.
We process information to provide the app features you request, including local tracking, subscriptions and Food Photo Analysis.
Our legal basis is the performance of our contract with you or steps taken at your request before entering that contract.
Some information, including Apple Health information, cycle information and certain food records, may constitute health information or special-category personal data.
Where required by law, we process this information with your explicit consent.
We process App Attest information, pseudonymous installation identifiers, scan counters and technical service information to:
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in securely and fairly operating the BIA Nutrition service.
We process support communications to respond to your request.
Our legal basis is the performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interest in supporting our products.
We may process information where necessary to meet accounting, consumer-protection, security or other legal requirements.
Our legal basis is compliance with a legal obligation.
We may receive optional Apple diagnostics based on the choice you make in Apple’s privacy and diagnostics settings.
You can withdraw consent for future processing by turning off the relevant permission or feature. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
We disclose information only as needed to operate the features you choose.
Apple provides services including:
Apple handles information under its own privacy policy:
https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Microsoft provides Microsoft Azure hosting and storage for the BIA Nutrition service, including security, App Attest and scan-allowance records.
Microsoft handles information under its privacy statement and the applicable service terms between X Tech Solutions and Microsoft:

OpenAI, L.L.C. and its affiliates provide the API used to interpret optional meal photographs and return estimated food and nutrition information.
OpenAI’s handling of information is described in its privacy policy and API data controls:
https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/
https://platform.openai.com/docs/models/default-usage-policies-by-endpoint
We may disclose information to professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

The production BIA Nutrition service is hosted using Microsoft Azure infrastructure in the United States.
OpenAI may also process Food Photo Analysis information in the United States or other countries in which OpenAI or its service providers operate.
This means that an optional meal photograph, the returned nutrition estimate and associated security or request information may be processed outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area.
Where required, we use recognised transfer safeguards such as:
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Saved food entries and their resized photographs remain on your iPhone for today and the previous 29 calendar days.
They are then automatically deleted.
You may delete an individual food entry and its photograph sooner using the app.
The BIA Nutrition service does not intentionally save meal photographs to permanent X Tech Solutions storage.
The photograph is handled temporarily for the time needed to process the analysis request.
OpenAI may retain API photographs, analysis instructions and returned results in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, unless a longer period is required by law.
Pseudonymous daily photo-scan quota records are retained for 90 days.
App Attest challenges normally expire after two minutes.
Single-use scan tokens normally expire after five minutes.
Expired challenge and token records are removed through scheduled cleanup.
An App Attest public-key record and assertion counter may be retained for the useful life of the attested app installation or while reasonably required to protect the service.
The record is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably required.
Hydration history stored by the app remains on your device for up to 180 days.
Detailed BIA Female cycle logs remain on your device for up to 90 days.
Current cycle settings and up to seven recorded period-start dates may remain until they are replaced or the app’s data is deleted.
Other local histories, goals, favourites and preferences remain for the relevant feature’s rolling history period or until you:
Support correspondence and required business records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:
Deleting a BIA App normally deletes its local app data from that device.
Information already written to Apple Health must be managed separately using the Apple Health app.
Apple-held purchase, diagnostic and backup information is retained under Apple’s policies and your Apple settings.
You can:
Some features will not work without the permission or information they require.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
Because the BIA Apps do not require a BIA account, we may hold only a pseudonymous installation identifier.
We may need information from you to locate and verify the relevant server record.
We cannot provide information that we do not hold or information that remains only on your device or in Apple Health.
To exercise your rights, email:

We use safeguards designed to protect information, including:
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You should protect your device with a passcode and keep iOS, watchOS and the BIA Apps up to date.
The BIA Apps are not directed to children under 13.
A person who is below the age at which they can consent to online services in their country should use the apps only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian.
This is particularly important for Food Photo Analysis because it sends a selected photograph away from the device for processing.
If you believe that we have processed a child’s personal data without valid permission, contact:
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, service providers or legal requirements change.
We will publish the revised policy at:
https://bia.training/privacy-policy
We will also change the “Last updated” date shown at the top of the policy.
If a change materially affects how an optional feature handles sensitive information, we will provide an appropriate notice in the app.
